Serato DJ

Serato is another truly huge name in digital DJing. It started off as a purist digital vinyl system (a way of playing digital music from laptop using a DJ's existing record decks and mixer, originally called "Serato Scratch Live"), but has slowly grown into a fully fledged digital DJ solution, gaining a name change to "Serato DJ" along the way, and is now capable of being used in a whole number of ways, much like Traktor.

Curiously, while Traktor is now commonly only used on Native Instruments' DJ controllers as we mentioned, Serato has gone from having a relatively small number of tightly controlled hardware partners (Serato doesn't make its own hardware) to working with pretty much everyone and anyone in the industry, so you can find versions of Serato bundled with controllers from the very cheapest right up to the top. However, the company still licenses the software to its own specifications, meaning Serato DJ remains very easy to set up and use (it literally is "plug and play"); this is one of its noted benefits.

Serato DJ Software

Serato is the software that DJs who play a wider choice of music than just electronic styles tend to prefer, as it has fewer loop and sample based features, and instead appeals to a more varied section of the DJing community. That's not to say it doesn't have creative editing features (for example, one of its paid -for additions is "Serato Flip", an addictive way to make easy, fast re-edits of tunes), just that if you want to DJ "the way it's always been done" but with software instead of physical media, Serato will be your natural choice over the brave new world of Traktor.

Trance music

What is trance music?

Trance music is one of the leading sub-styles of electronic music worldwide. Trance began to assert their position on our continent in the early 90s, as the first signs of the style appeared in Britain and Western Europe. It is in this era, the technique of sampling-and is extremely popular, but by mid-decade musical pioneers began to pull electronic music in another direction. This is precisely the moment that began the extensive use of synthesizers that are forgotten in the 80's. They focus on them and trance music. This genre is characterized by a complex, mesmerizing and often repetitive melodies, namely on and derives its name. Trance - feeling hypnosis that recreates by mixing elements with a distinctive building, euphoric breakdown, followed by disconnection of the overall piece.

Trance is the name of style electronic dance (dance) music that develops in the 90s of the 20th century. Characterized tempo between 130 and 160 beats per minute, short cyclical melodic synthesizer phrases, and a musical form that is superimposed and cleared in the course of the whole piece. Often includes crescendo (climaxes) and lows. Sometimes used and vocals.
Trance Music

It is assumed that the style is derived primarily from the combination of genres in electronic music such as ambient, techno and house. The origin of the term "trance" is not sure as some say it comes from the album Klaus Schulze "Transefer" but others say its roots can be found in the early years of formation "Dance 2 Trance". In any case, the name of the style is inextricably linked to the feeling that the rhythms of percussion instruments have the ability to cause changes in the normal state of human consciousness - ie trance.

Since trance almost always listen to nightclubs, famous holiday places in the central areas of major cities, it can be perceived as a kind of club music.

Progressive House

Progressive (progressive, forward) in the context of modern dance music (sometimes progressive electronic dance music or short prog) is an expression that includes a collection of electronic dance genres that use techniques of progressive performance and includes styles like progressive trance, progressive house, progressive techno and progressive breaks. Progressive house is associated with new musical era and progressive rock.

Most electronic dance pieces are created with certain traits that are most favorable for DJs. Unlike the obvious song structures of genres like hard house or HI-NRG, whose ups and downs in progressive dance track tend to be less obvious. The layering different sounds on each other and their slow mixing in the blender is the key idea of progressive music.
Progressive House
When talking about progressive electronic styles, the term "progressive" typically affects the progressive structure that changes are increasing as in the case of progressive house). The exception is progressive trance, since trance is typically progressive like structure already. Progressive trance usually refers to a kind of trance music, which will lead melody and more general atmosphere. This impression is usually achieved by layers of percussion instruments.

In the case of progressive house, progressive expression may also affect the style. Such elements can be almost anything as a guitar loop, computer generated noises typical elements from other musical genres and more. Find that this feature makes this genre changing all the time, obviously faster than other electronic genres (such as trance and techno).
